Three weeks and counting.

The son graduates this coming Saturday. I can't believe he is already 18, it seems like just yesterday that he was this young child toddling around the house getting into stuff. Where did the time go?

In three weeks we leave for his graduation present. He will be leaving for the Navy this summer, and all he asked for was a long trip down to the coast before he leaves for basic. Sooooo.........we will leave on the evening of June 12, drive as far as we can and then get up early the next morning and drive in (I prefer driving at night this time of year because of the heat. Much easier on engines and transmissions when pulling a trailer). He is already getting excited. I am looking forward to it my self. This will be my last chance to spend some one on one time with my son before he leaves for his life as an adult. Things will never be the same again.

We have had our ups and downs, and a few disasters along the way. But he is my son, and I love him with all my heart and soul. I have had to be both Mother and Father, because his Father has shown very little interest in him or his activities. I have never regretted the time I have spent with him, or the efforts to be at his activities, no matter how difficult it was at the time. And when he finishes basic training, I will be there too. Because he is my son, and I love him as only a Mother can. And I always will.
